California Bans Computer Usage
No longer can I ask the one in my passenger seat to pull up the Yahoo Maps on my notebook. As of 1/1/2004 California has banned that habit. We will have to pull over just to get the directions that are at the fingertips of my navigator.

Funny enough, I had a run in with police early in 2003 for my passenger using my notebook for that very reason. They said it was the law then, I did not believe them, but now it is.

How are my passengers suppose to entertain themselves on long rides. They use to watch movies, pumping the audio through the car stereo. Does this also criminalize my iPod?

This is so hypocritical. I understand the distraction danger, but as long as eating is legal and cop cars are equipped with notebooks, my passenger should be allowed to use one as well.
