Fatt Matt: Who am I speaking to and what do you play in the band?

Drew: Drew Russ, and I play Bass in Seventh Star

Fatt Matt: Why did you join a hardcore band, why are you in a Christian Hardcore band?

Drew: Well, I love hardcore and I love God. I was asked to join the band, that had been my good friends for a while, and member left, so it was kind of natural that I joined. And I see us as a bunch of hardcore kids, and we all are Christians and love God with everything, so that's what we sing about, our beliefs.

Fatt Matt: What was the best experience in your band that sticks with you every time you play?

Drew: There have been so many good shows. I'll say playing Point of Recognition's last show was quite an honor and an experience.

Fatt Matt: What is the one thing that God has shown you through your music that keeps you in your band? And do you feel that you are fulfilling Gods will, by playing in a band?

Drew: One thing that I have learned is to stay focused. Like, its awesome playing a show to 800 kids and everything, but what has motivated me to keep going string in the band, has when kids come up so me and say "man, your lyrics really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff, and I just sat and prayed to God after I heard your CD" that just blew me away.

Fatt Matt: Who are some of your major influences as a bass player? Like Bands, and or Bass players?

Drew: Well, some of my favorite bands that influence me are Madball, NIV, H2O, Merauder, Death Threat, xDisciplex, AF, and many more. But as far as Bass playing I really look up to punk bands like Good Riddance, AFI, and Anti Flag and stuff, they have some amazing bass lines, they inspire me to be a better bass player

Fatt Matt: Last question I have for you. How do you feel about Christian Hardcore blowing up in the Hardcore scene? And Do you think it is having an effect on the Hardcore Kids, about God?

Drew: I think it is awesome how hardcore kids are being more open minded about Christians in Hardcore. They're getting more respect than ever, I guess kids are realizing that they can like a band regardless of their beliefs. And where there is The Word, God is going to reach people. so its all very exciting.

Fatt Matt: cool well thanks for you time. Is there anything you would like to say before this interview is over?

Drew: Thanks for the interview. I love to tour. if we are in your town. go.
